Memorial Bench on the Isle of Bute, Scotland
On August 29th we embarked on one of our long delivery runs to Scotland, this time to The Isle of Bute.
Our first delivery early that morning was to Kirkby Muxloe Castle, a beautiful English Heritage site and the 6th EH site we have supplied.
This was followed by the delivery and installation of a memorial bench in a churchyard in Ashover, Derbyshire. This bench was commissioned by the 3 ladies shown sitting on the bench and was in memory of their husbands.
A further 135 miles to the North saw us in County Durham where we delivered a bench to Thornley ; this was the fourth memorial bench to this location.
We arrived at the ferry to the Isle of Bute at 17.00 hrs and made the short crossing in misty weather. The next morning we drove to the main fishing location on the shores of Loch Fad and secured the bench in position using our open ground kit. A beautiful bench in a wonderful location to commemorate a very loved young man who was called away far too soon. It is not often we get to travel to Scotland ourselves, we usually send the bench secured to a pallet and via a national carrier, but personal delivery and installation was called for in this instance. It was not necessary to deliver the bench for some weeks and we were thus able to add 3 more clients to the run which just about paid of the diesel. We always oblige if possible.
